On the D day

Alright

Good to see you guys are back. Proves my hypothesis that it is indeed a hot topic.

Fast forward all the grueling wait, impatience, challenges, hiccups and setbacks during your application process as Ashhad went through on Ashhad's immigration story Sentiments remain the same even if someone is coming to Canada as a student. We finally reach the D day. The day when its time for you to drag your over-sized and overweight bags to the airport for your flight. You have prepared a thousand counter arguments for the check in inspector appealing to their human side to gain all the sympathies so they let your baggage go without any penalty.

The flight from Dubai is 14 hours long when direct. Million hours if you stop over in US. Funny thing about connecting flights to US is that one needs at least a visit visa from US to even get a connecting flight. It is highly advised against.

Talking about flight, 14 hours is a really long time. On my way here, I tried sleeping in that sad excuse of chair we call economy seating but to no avail, instead I used that time to look up information, blogs, news websites etc that could help me settle into my new life. Some of the notable mentions are BlogTO, Daily Hive, Deepa's Toronto Treats and Canada Counsel by Fenil. Also checkout shutter voyage if you want to create a bucket list for all the beautiful places the great white north offers. Not only does it have breathtaking images of some of the most scenic (postcard worthy) places in Canada but also provides some useful lessons on photography if any of you wants to explore that creative aspiration of yours. Last but not the least, if anyone is coming with kids especially a toddler as they are proven albeit cutest troublemakers, abymybaby does a great job of providing a roadmap on handling things best suited for a toddler.

Most importantly, we have now landed and are fully equipped to deal with life outside the airport but there is one more process we must all engage in before stepping out onto Canada's official soil. Stay tuned to find out what that process is in the next post. Until then, Adios.
